Theme from Chinatown - Trumpet Solo
After years of searching, I finally found a partial conductor's score for this piece; I always stumbled on the first chord when I was trying to write it out by ear (it's every note of an F Major scale if you're interested), and so I'd put it aside waiting for the next time I'd give it a go. I've finally scored and arranged it to play along with.
The score to the movie Chinatown written by Jerry Goldsmith is a famous one. He is said to have written it in just two short weeks, and waited for the lead trumpeter for the MGM orchestra, Uan Rasey, to return from holidays to record it. It's gone down in history as one of the great movie themes, and many trumpet players, including myself, consider...

One player recreates a full brass ensemble - Hymn To The Fallen
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.4 года назад
I set myself a challenge; could I play a full brass orchestral arrangement on just my Trumpet, Flugel and Piccolo Trumpet and use some plugins to pitch shift it and change the sound to make it sound like a full Brass ensemble? Here's the result. Every part was played individually on just my XO Bb trumpet, Flugel Horn and Piccolo Trumpet and then I applied an octave or EQ effect in my recording ...

The opening track "The Good Grind" is by Trombone Player Ben Gurton, who a...

A non-technical guide to the basics of choosing the right trumpet mouthpiece, with excerpts on different mouthpieces. Remember, a mouthpiece is only there to enhance the sound you are looking to achieve on a trumpet and to give you the most comfort when playing; don't go searching for the perfect mouthpiece because there isn't one... says the guy with at least 50 mouthpieces. very informative. I'm a trombonist and I'm trying to make the transition from trombone to trumpet. but the mouthpiece I'm using is unbearable. I got a 5A and it's rather uncomfortable, mostly because my lips are kinda big. lol. would a 7C trumpet mouthpiece be more appropriate for me?

First, let me say and extend to you, thank you, so much for this rendition of one of my favorite pieces of remembrance to our fallen and presently serving. I'm taken back to a time when I walked those beaches, alone, in deep reflection as to whse blood I trod upon while tendering our own faith and fate. I was stationed in the Netherlands during the Cold War and again after the Veitnam Conflict in areas I had known of and the differences in attitude never swayed towards US service members then , in the past nor those serving there now. I'd like for you to know, on a personal level, how much this means to me, a now retired member of the Army. You've done us proud. All , of us, on any side of the globe, you've shown by performance alone how much empathy mankind has. As I clear my eyes , I salute you sir. I hope these words reach you in time for mine is measured...Your words and means however, will reach far beyond the stars. With Deepest Respect and Apprecitation, 9th Infantry 7th SF Grp ARVN 1972-1975 18D30 *Slow Salute*

The mics sounded great, but your camera angles and constant switching were EXTREMELY distracting (yes, your eyes do distract your ears, while listening, which is why blind people can hear better). This video really had potential, though. Just tried to get too fancy.

I've been playing for 10 years now and I've been on 7c the whole time 😅 One time we had sectionals and the tutor asked me why my tone was so dull (ouch) and recommended getting a 3c or 1.5c I think? I prefer classical playing so would like a better tone, I just have no idea where to start when it comes to mouthpieces

  • @AJ_MD

7C has actually larger cup volume and pretty well same size as 3C. It just has a rounder rim, with a high point closer in. Lots of people prefer a 3C rim and the cup assists with stamina. 6C is a very nice mpc to try.

The clowns in the crowd are dead from the neck up. The whites can't dance to music unless its sung by inbred hillbillies. They should be on their knees worshipping Jessica. They will never see a performance like that again. And this is 2023 and they haven't. And as for the token blackfullas that didn't dance or show support when Jess first sang is typical blacks acting white to keep their jobs. If I was Jess, I wouldn't talk to them coconuts.

Like the inside of a potato not being cooked all the way? Not sure how else to describe it. The other two sounded one-dimensional to me.

Hey Adrian could you send me the uncompressed files? I couldn´t find them on your website. I'm looking for a ribbon mic, mainly to record brass, percussion and strings. I've heard uncompressed files from other YT videos and the difference is huge. Hearing it back from youtube on my monitors the royer 121 sounded more balanced that the AEA ones. They sounded a bit warmer but when the trumpet hits the higher notes I can hear the resonance in 8k more pronounced on the AEA mics, I wonder if that's still the case on the uncompressed files.
